Domenica 7 agosto 2005 sole.
Alle 14 approdiamo a Patrasso (Patra) nel Peloponneso, solo 210 km ci separano dalla capitale. A bordo del nostro verdone percorriamo una strada costiera che chiamano autostrada, con una corsia per senso di marcia a volte due, tanti autovelox e polizia, qualche autogrill, passando per lo stretto di Corinto giungiamo ad Atene verso le 19. Il nostro albergo è il
Jason Inn (€ 40,00 a testa a notte), situato nel centro città nella zona della Plaka. L’albergo è abbastanza carino, con una terrazza panoramica dalla quale si ammira il Partendone. Arriviamo a sera stanchi ma affamati; ci prepariamo e ci buttiamo nel centro città, camminando per le stradine del centro troviamo un grazioso locale O’ Platon – nella zona Monastiraki ai piedi dell’Acropoli, dove mangiamo una splendida Moussaka
. Siamo in estate e qui fa un gran caldo anche di sera; per fortuna nella maggior parte dei ristoranti si mangia all’aperto.Consiglio : non fatevi “fregare” dai ristoranti sulle vie principale, alla moda, cercate piuttosto le vecchie taverne più defilate che sono sempre le migliori sia come qualità che come prezzo, provare per credere….
ATENE 8 – 9 agosto 2005 molto sole, caldoVisitiamo la capitale Atene. Come dicono tutte le guide “Atene non è bella” e infatti è così; case mezze finite, strade labirintiche e disordinate, resti antichi qua e la in un miscuglio di antico e moderno; ma è Grecia e questo è il suo fascino.
Visitiamo la Plaka
il quartiere storico centrale con i suoi ristorantini (Estiatori) tradizionali, chiaramente l’Acropoli con il mitico Partenone
(di cui ho acquistato la mia bella miniatura). Il
museo Archeologico , assolutamente da visitare per i reperti archeologici
in esso contenuti, provenienti da tutta la Grecia
(quella che si crede sia la maschera funebre del re Minosse) e di diverse epoche
(primi pugili dell a storia). Naturalmente una “scappata” al villaggio Olimpico
(Atene 2004)
era d’obbligo
. Con nostro dispiacere ci appare abbandonato e quasi lasciato andare. Finiamo la serata con un giretto sul colle del Licabetto per ammirare un panorama notturno
su tutta la città; prendendo un taxi.

, giretto in centro e alle ore 17.30 puntiamo sul Pireo – porto di Atene – abbiamo il traghetto per Creta.

10 agosto -
siamo a Creta , arrivo alle 6 di mattina al porto di Iraklio , colazione con un bel Tirizambon (panzerotto ripieno di prosciutto cotto…molto buono) e poi via attraversando l’intera isola visto che il nostro primo albergo –
Hotel Marina Village 
(€. 28,00 a testa a notte) si trova all’estremo orientale a Palekastro. L’isola There is beautiful, bleak in some areas and other green, with beautiful sea views where you can stop for a Elleniko (greek coffee, sugar meters = average). Is to cross a highway (similar to our own road) comfortable and fast. Tired from the trip we lie on the beach Chiona, but it's plain to our case, it is convenient because of its proximity. dove passiamo una splendida mattinata. Rifocillati ben benino ad un ristorantino sul lungomare affrontiamo la tortuosa strada per Ierapetra, meta obbligata per poter raggiungere la splendida isola di Chrissi (Hrissi),arriviamo in serata
all’albergo Esperides (bruttino ma per due notti va bene perché molto economico €. 18,60 a notte a testa…..) sito il località Mirtos, (15 km a ovest di Ierapetra) pittoresco paesino sul mare, cena a Ierapetra.
14 agosto – Intera giornata all’isola di Chrissi

dominato da una fortezza veneziana direttamente sul mare e sul porto, delizioso paese del nord gemellato con Castenaso vicino a Bologna
(la mia città). Destinazione Kasteli Kissamos all’
hotel Peli (€ 22,50 a testa al giorno) fino al termine della vacanza per tanto tanto relax, dove un simpatico baffone ci ha dato tante informazioni utili sui posti da vedere in the area. August 21-

26 agosto – mattinata tranquilla a preparare la valigia con ultima passeggiata pomeridiana a Chania, poi via verso il traghetto a Souda il porto di Chania, partenza verso le 9 per il Pireo e quindi Atene, ARRIVEDERCI CRETA, TORNEREMO A TROVARTI…
27 agosto – Arrivo al Pireo verso le 6, giretto in centro ad Atene, con ultima colazione greca….,
passando per lo stretto di Corinto
ritorniamo al Pireo per imbarcarci per Ancona, partenza alle 17, ARRIVEDERCI GRECIA….A PRESTO.
Dimenticavo.... il costo a coppia è stato di circa € 1.500, traghetti, alberghi, mangiare e svaghi....da non credere.....

Gabri ora ha 14 mesi e cammina da solo 
, piccolo borgo affacciato sul mare per un buon pranzetto a base di pesce. Usciti dal paese percorriamo una strada panoramica, con vista sulla costa marchigiana, molto caratteristica, e giungiamo ad Ancona, l’ora si avvicina, il nostro traghetto parte circa alle 16. 
La città non ci appare splendida, ma la nostra è una toccata e fuga. Vediamo solamente il porto con il Duomo e la Fortezza oltre ad una miriade di traghetti e file di auto; tra le quali anche la nostra (il verdone mangiasassi ricordato con onore ). Sono le 17 e ci muoviamo la Grecia è vicina. La nostra compagnia di navigazione è l’ Anek lines e noi abbiamo la cabina per una bella dormita.
